Well the oldest son has made it through Naval Basic Training and is now in South Carolina to start a year of schooling. And like any parent, I am proud as can be. But I did have to remind him that there was only a limited number of days before our favorite time of the year.
Spook Sister and I have already been knee deep in the planning stages. We have decided that this year we will do a carnival for the children and a party for the adults. We have come up with a lot of really good ideas for the carnival that I hope we can pull off. My biggest concern is having the people to run the booths. We really want it to be like a real carnival for the kids. I just wish that we could come up with a fun house for them to go through. But that will be for another year.
The adult party has a good deal of the supplies gathered but no real direction. I think we are going to have to sit down and seriously think about this one. Kind of like the yards, we really haven't even begun to plan those. I had thought of doing the "Traveling Freak Show" kind of thing but now I am having second thoughts. I guess while I am working the fireworks tent I will have plenty of time to think about what I want to do this year. I just know that it has to be better than last year.
